Pembina Masters Curling League – HISTORY
The Pembina Masters Curling League was founded in 1996 to encourage friendly, competitive play
among those curlers 60 + years of age.
In March of 1996, Bob English, Lorne Molinski, Art Rossett & Peter Rey met with the idea of forming a
Pembina Masters Curling League. The Tuesday League consisting of 6 teams commenced play on
October 1, 1996 with an entry fee of $30.00 per person for 12 games through January 7. The next round
was 8 games.
On September 24, 1997 the first Pembina Masters Bonspiel was organized and as a result, a full 12
teams with a waiting list enrolled in the Tuesday League. By 1998 there was sufficient interest to start a
Thursday League with 6 teams and the following year saw a full 24 team roster commence play on
Tuesdays and Thursdays.
